IETA NETWORK CONNECTION

In touch with global carbon markets

IETA Network Connections - December

A valuable resource: Never stop learning and engaging

IETA’s events have become extremely valuable in broadening awareness and driving climate action. They are geared to needs in key jurisdictions – and this year in particular, to helping prepare the way to Glasgow and beyond.

Our events help bridge divides and drive transitions. They focus on strengthening collaboration across jurisdictions, and supporting the development of more ambitious national carbon pricing plans around the world.

During the turmoil of 2020, we quickly shifted our focus from in-person meetings to virtual events, and were really encouraged by the tremendous support from our members and a global audience of private and public stakeholders.

Looking forward into 2021, we’re focusing on renewing our virtual community with our second IETA LIVE series. our Regional Carbon Pricing & Markets Workshops and Innovate4Climate, and plan to resume hybrid in-person/virtual events later in the year as soon as it’s possible to do so.

We welcome your participation and support! IETA is first and foremost a partnership. Our engagement is as strong as our members’ commitment to achieving net zero, and we provide a platform for entities to engage with the wider community and promote their message and expertise.

We offer the opportunity to direct your funds towards promoting climate action. By joining us as a Partner Sponsor, you can receive tailored benefits such as in-logo visibility and partnership recognition, speaking opportunities, as well as the option to lead an event(s) on a topic(s) of your choice. Feel free to reach out to discuss your options!

We’re currently finalising arrangements for our event schedule in the second half of the year; in the meantime here is what we have lined up:

IETA LIVE Carbon Market Virtual Series – January-June, 2021

This series will address key industry, policy, regulatory and community issues around the world, bringing together leading minds in policy, business and finance. The events provide a way to connect, communicate, develop knowledge, and collaborate virtually - ensuring we continue to lead and inform on the benefits of markets, pricing, and transitioning to a net-zero emissions economy.

This series is free of charge and open to all who wish to attend.

IETA & World Bank/Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition Regional Carbon Pricing Virtual Series – January-September, 2021

This Regional Carbon Pricing virtual series will address latest developments around carbon pricing, markets and sustainable development in each region (Africa, Latin America & Caribbean, Asia Pacific, North America, and the Middle East & North Africa).

This series is also free of charge and open to all who wish to participate.

We will be scheduling further events throughout the year; some of the key dates for your diary include:

This year's GHG Market Report, Vision 2050, includes an introduction by Christiana Figueres, 2050 carbon market scenarios, how the voluntary market can play a role in driving ambition and the latest on net-zero pledges. Other highlights include how the EU ETS is being future-proofed, ensuring a Just Transition in a resource-rich economy, and carbon pricing implementation in developing countries. It also includes profiles of innovations by IETA members and what policies are needed to deliver on the technology of tomorrow.

The 147-page report proposes a range of structures and principles to increase the transparency and integrity of the voluntary market.
