Latin American Climate Summit (LACS) report released

IETA and ASOCARBONO have released a report providing an overview of the recent Latin American Climate Summit (LACS) in Cartagena, Colombia.

The report highlights key sessions and announcements made during the event. Three significant developments were showcased:

  • IETA released a report on REDD+ Financing, developed by our NCS Working Group with support from Ellen Laurie and Will Gifford. We issued it jointly with our friends at the NCS Alliance
  • A group over 70 global south community organisations and small businesses released an open letter to the SBTi Board of Trustees, urging them to stay the course on recognising the important role of high integrity credits in delivering finance to developing countries and communities– this letter remains open to new signatories across the Global South until July 31 (contact Camillo Trujillo to learn more)
  • IETA announced the signing of an MOU with the Interstate Consortium for the Sustainable Development of the Brazilian Amazon (a group of Amazonian states interested in high-integrity carbon markets for NCS – the consortium includes state of Para where Belem (COP30) is located).
