Baku, Nov 19 – At its Annual General Meeting held during COP29 in Baku on November 18 2024, IETA elected four new council members and appointed two new IETA Fellows in recognition of their contribution to the development of market mechanisms.
The new council members are:
- Sheri Hickok, Climate Impact Partners,
- Kavita Ahluwalia, Uniper,
- Emma Mazhari, Maersk, and
- Nick Osborne, Shell
Standing down from the council are Jonathan Shopley of Climate Impact Partners, Rick Saines of Pollination Group, Paul Dawson of RWE Supply & Trading, and Ingrid Parramon of bp.
“We’re delighted to welcome our new Council members at a time when the development of carbon markets is moving into high gear around the world,” Dirk Forrister, IETA’s CEO, said after the meeting.
“We would also like to express our sincere gratitude for the many years of hard work and commitment shown by our retiring Council members. IETA would not be the organisation it is today without their invaluable help.”
The AGM also elected two well-known figures from the carbon markets world to serve as IETA fellows.
Paulo Protasio is the former chief executive of the Rio de Janeiro chamber of commerce, who served as the very first chair of IETA’s council at its formation in 1999. More recently he serves as Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Authority of the Rio de Janeiro state government.
Kay Harrison served as New Zealand’s climate change ambassador for five years and before that was her country’s lead negotiator. She is presently Adjunct Senior Fellow in the School of Language, Social and Political Science at the University of Canterbury (NZ).
